With the reunited Go-Gos while they played a
private set!
In NY for the Sirius Christmas party.  Definitely
not Southern California!!!!!!
With Curt Smith of Tears For Fears ('The
Hurting' - one of the best albums ever - at
the Sirius studios in Los Angeles, July 2007.
The Sirius satellite control room, looking like
something out of a 007 film.  "Do you expect
me to talk, Goldfinger?"  "No, Mr. Bond, I expect
you to die!"

Sirius
Everybody's talking about it - satellite radio!  (It took me about a year to learn to
spell it - how many 'ls' and 'ts'?)  Sirius is one of the two services that cover
America, and it's the one that
Howard Stern is on!!!!

I host a daily show on one of their channels - or streams as the satcasters call it -
First Wave, channel 22.  It's an 80s station (how did you guess?) that features all
your favorite music including D Mode, The Smiths, The Cure, Peter Murphy,
New Order, Moz, INXS, TFF, Pet Shop Boys, Siouxsie, The Clash and so many
others.  It is, of course,
commercial free.

You can catch me on it Mon - Fri from 9am - 3pm East Coast Time, and morning
drive for the West Coast 6am - 12 noon Pacific, and Saturdays & Sundays from
10am until 4pm est, 7am - 1pm Pacific.

Also on the channel are two other former KROQ jocks,
Freddie Snakeskin and
Swedish Eagle!
So it's a cool reunion - especially for Southern California
listeners.

There's also a great show on Sunday nights starting at 10pm (eastern) called
Dark
Wave
, that goes a lot deeper into the music of some of the most influential bands
of the era.  It's on Dark Wave that you will hear cuts like "Fly On The
Windscreen", "10:15 Saturday Night", "Bela Lugosi's Dead", "Transmission",
"Headmaster Ritual" and so many others.

You can make requests on a national toll-free line
1 877-33-SIRIUS and then
work through the prompts to First Wave and leave a song request, or go on-line
to
www.sirius.com and link over to the First Wave page and e-mail from there.

If you've never heard Sirius, you can go to the website
www.sirius.com and listen
free for three days.  There are some amazing channels.  Other favorites of mine
include
Area 33, and The Beat 36 - all uptempo Euro dance.  It's also cool to
kickback with
Chill 34.  I had dinner at the Foundation Room at Mandalay Bay in
Las Vegas and that's what they were playing in all the private rooms!

I also do a daily feature on First Wave called "
Richard Blade's First Wave
Rewind
" which spotlights major groups and events from the eighties.  I host a
similar daily feature but with different artists on
The Big 80s, Sirius 8, called
"
Behind The Big 80s with Richard Blade".

Here are some photos of my experiences so far at Sirius over the past three years.
